The current definition
Compound is the second Law: interaction among combined elements produces an emergent state, structure, property, consequence, relationship, or possibility.
Compounding is not automatically growth, goodness, or simple addition.
Interaction produces an outcome
Heat, ingredients, timing, and the cook’s choices interact. Something emerges that was not available from the untouched ingredients in isolation. Repeated practice can also compound skill, confidence, and the assumptions shaping the next attempt.
Growth has a direction
Compounding can amplify a mistake, a harmful incentive, or a truthful contribution. More scale, intensity, agreement, or efficiency is not sufficient evidence of goodness. Compare must name a reference.
Carry the question into your life
What is emerging from the interaction, and what else is being amplified with it?
This meal is an editorial teaching illustration. The Laws describe related functions that can recur and overlap; they are not a rigid timetable imposed on every event.
Editorial exposition grounded in the model’s September reference, working definitions, and reconciliation record. Illustrations explain the relationships; they are not additional ratified laws. See source versions and scope ↗
